Privacy

What little data this site collects, what happens to it, and how to stop it.

The plain summary

Clear Horizons is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, no login, no comment system, no newsletter and no shopping basket. There is very little to collect, and what is collected is not sold, rented, traded or shared with advertisers — because there are no advertisers.

What is collected

  • Server logs. Like any website, ours records the requests it serves: an IP address, the time, the page requested, and the browser's user-agent string. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse, and they are discarded on a rolling basis.
  • Aggregate page counts. We look at which pages are read so we know which parts of the index are worth expanding. This is counted in aggregate and is not tied to a named person.
  • Email you send us. If you write to the editors, we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to deal with it, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case the same issue comes up again.

What is not collected

No advertising cookies. No cross-site tracking pixels. No fingerprinting scripts. No social media widgets that phone home. No profiles built about you, and no data broker relationships of any kind.

Third parties

The site loads its typefaces from a web font service, which means your browser makes a request to that provider and it will see your IP address as a result. Apart from that and our hosting provider, nothing on these pages calls out to anyone else. Links to hotels lead to sites we do not control, with their own policies.

Your choices

You can block or clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time; nothing on this site depends on them. You can browse with a VPN or a tracking blocker and the pages will work normally. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, ask and it will be, unless we are required to keep it.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new date below. We do not make changes quietly.
